Forbes and Silicon Alley Insider have insight into YouTube’s revenue.

A quick overview:

  • Google may be making $200 million from YouTube this year and $350 million next year.
  • A front page ad on YouTube goes for about $175,000 per day plus a commitment to spend at least $50,000 more on YouTube or Google.
  • A branded YouTube channel goes for about $200,000.
  • YouTube is the undiputed leader in online video.
  • Google’s position gives them great insight into user habits and is allowing them to fine tune the ad experience and model (that will likely become the industry standard).

New: YouTube videos in Google Earth http://www.interactivesalsa.com/2007/10/12/new-youtube-videos-in-google-earth/ http://www.interactivesalsa.com/2007/10/12/new-youtube-videos-in-google-earth/#comments Fri, 12 Oct 2007 17:48:17 +0000 Chip http://www.interactivesalsa.com/2007/10/12/new-youtube-videos-in-google-earth/

Well this is cool… I mean, now Google Earth is EVEN cooler…

per Google:

Now you can find YouTube videos connected to specific locations right in Google Earth.

…Let’s say you’re jetting off to Paris. Before you go, you can watch the sunset filmed from the top floor of the Eiffel Tower, among other clips of popular spots in the City of Lights.

This past week marks a couple milestones for Google-YouTube synergy: YouTube “video units” are now part of AdSense, and geotagged YouTube videos are now part of Google Earth. It also moves Google closer to profiting from its monster purchase of YouTube.

Update:

I forgot to mention that Google Maps added Street View to six new cities: Chicago, Portland, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Tucson and Philadelphia.

Google Video Ad Unit
A little follow up

I haven’t tried the video units yet, but will let you know what i think when I do.

Google sent me an email today re: their video units, as they are calling them. I clicked on the link and came to the following overview/opt-in info:

[] I understand and agree that as part of the Video units program, I will be receiving non-advertising video content in addition to advertising content, and that all content received and payments made to me through the Video units program are subject to the AdSense

New AdSense-YouTube synergy seems promising http://www.interactivesalsa.com/2007/10/09/new-adsense-youtube-synergy-seems-promising/ http://www.interactivesalsa.com/2007/10/09/new-adsense-youtube-synergy-seems-promising/#comments Tue, 09 Oct 2007 22:41:12 +0000 Chip http://interactivesalsa.com/2007/10/09/new-adsense-youtube-synergy-seems-promising/

AdSense publishers can now opt to place YouTube video on their site and have targeted videos appear, with ads overlaying or next to the video.

  • For online publishers looking for more video content on their site, this would help fill that void while bringing in extra $$.
  • Video content producers gain audience and a revenue stream.
  • AdWords (I assume) advertisers now have another avenue to reach people (text, image, referrals, audio, mobile, video).

Sounds promising.

…Web sites participating in AdSense now can sign up to specify the kinds of YouTube videos they want shown on their pages. A Web site focused on automobiles, for instance, might want to display YouTube videos about cars and other vehicles.

More than 100 video providers — mostly professionals — have agreed to allow Google to distribute their content. Initial participants include TV Guide Broadband, Expert Village, Mondo Media and Extreme Elements.

Google will share the ad revenue generated by the YouTube videos with the content provider and the Web site that shows the clips.

I’ll try it out and follow up…
